Eye Care from an Early Age
Dr. Laverty and her team understand the importance of taking care of your child’s eye health from a young age. Early and consistent eye exams can help us monitor your child’s visual development and check for any vision issues early.
We offer eye exams for babies as young as 6 months old. Our team uses different techniques and tools to assess their visual acuity and eye health. We implement toys, videos, automated screen fixation targets, and more into our eye exams for children.
It’s never too early to prioritize your kids’ eye health, and we want to help. Contact us to schedule your child’s next eye exam today.

Our children’s eye exams use innovative techniques to focus on the details of your child’s eye health.
During a children’s eye exam, we pay special attention to eye tracking and overall health. We evaluate your child’s ability to follow objects with their eyes, perceive depth and colour, and identify shapes. We also check for any underlying health conditions that may affect their vision.
Making Eye Exams Interactive
At White Oaks Optometry, we’re passionate about helping your kids achieve clear, healthy vision. To do so, our team works to create an interactive and engaging exam experience to help make eye care an experience that your kids can look forward to.
Through different techniques and tools, we can help get to the bottom of your child’s visual needs.
Training Paddles for Preferential Viewing
We use paddles with grading signs to check preferential viewing in infants and toddlers. This technique helps us determine if there are any refractive errors or other issues affecting their vision. We can then prescribe corrective measures to improve their eyesight.
Toys, Videos, & Automated Screen Fixation Targets
We understand that children may feel anxious during eye exams, so we want to make the process as fun and engaging as possible! We use toys, videos, and automated screen fixation targets to keep your child entertained and focused during the exam.
Autorefractors & Fundus Photography
Our team uses different technology to examine your child’s eyes. We use autorefractors to measure their refractive error and fundus photography, which is a form of retinal imaging, to capture detailed images of the inside of their eyes. These tools allow us to provide accurate diagnoses and recommend appropriate treatment options.
Customized, Tailored Exams
We understand that the type of exam required for each child varies depending on their age, health, and individual needs.
For infants and toddlers, we offer exams that focus on assessing their visual development and overall eye health. We even offer pink eye care for children.
As children grow older, our exams become more comprehensive and tailored to their unique needs. We take into consideration factors like their school performance, family history of eye conditions, and any specific concerns they may have.
Every Child Is Unique
We understand that every child is different, and we take the time to tailor our exams to their unique needs. Our goal is to provide personalized care that helps your child’s vision develop properly and address potential issues promptly.
